Redistricting hearing

November 20 at 10:00 am there will be a public hearing on redistricting.  Houston will be

This is your only chance to have your voice heard (and, I might add, possibly change Sheila Jackson Lee's gerrymandered dragon of a district, District 18).

Houston is expected to gain 2 additional congressional districts in 2011 and this is the only local opportunity for the public to provide input as to how all district lines should be redrawn for the U.S. Congress, State Senate and House, State Board of Education and Judiciary.  Witnesses will be limited to 5 minutes each and may submit written testimony in addition to or in place of verbal testimony by providing 25 copies, with your name on each copy, to the Committee staff during the hearing.  This venue will hold up to 200 people and witnesses must fill out a request to speak at the hearing so please come early.  A great deal of information about the redistricting process, state and federal laws governing redistricting and statistical information is also available at the Committees' website athttp://www.tlc.state.tx.us/redist/redist.html and is strongly recommended for review prior to the hearing.  For more information email us at info@kingstreetpatriots.org.

Why Is This Important? The NRA initiated Trigger the Vote to encourage ALL gun owners to register and use their votes to elect representatives who will protect our Second Amendment rights. We are in a constant struggle with our gun-grabbing government to maintain our right to keep and bear arms – a FUNDAMENTAL right in a free society, along with private property ownership. Without the right to keep and carry a gun, we are at the mercy of criminals who would take our property or our life, and dependent on the government for our protection. Unless a policeman lives in your house, how likely is law enforcement to arrive before an intruder robs, rapes or kills you? If you are unable to protect your person or property from a stronger or better-armed opponent or group of opponents, are you really free?

Cheapest flight to Washington D.C. March 20

Fellow Patriots -  We've had many requests to coordinate a trip to D.C. to stand together with fellow countrymen and congressmen against the Obamacare nightmare. The best rates we have found are on Southwest. We are recommending the early flight (7:20 a.m.) out, nonstop into Baltimore. From Baltimore, we will take a 25 minute train trip into D.C., returning Sunday at 7:15 p.m. However, if the vote has not occurred, that could roll to Monday if you choose to stay longer. Please click here to view the available flights. These are not group rates. We do not have a clear indication of how many seats are available. It is first come first serve.  We are working on discounted hotel accommodations in the $80 - $125 per night range. Please email Catherine at Catherine@KingStreetPatriots.org if you plan to go, and we can coordinate further.  Stay tuned for a document to follow just released from the Ways & Means Committee detailing an expansion of the IRS at levels not seen since World War II. An estimated 16,000 new agents will be added to help enforce this unprecedented power-grab by a renegade administration.
