Why Is This Important? The NRA initiated Trigger the Vote to encourage ALL gun owners to register and use their votes to elect representatives who will protect our Second Amendment rights. We are in a constant struggle with our gun-grabbing government to maintain our right to keep and bear arms – a FUNDAMENTAL right in a free society, along with private property ownership. Without the right to keep and carry a gun, we are at the mercy of criminals who would take our property or our life, and dependent on the government for our protection. Unless a policeman lives in your house, how likely is law enforcement to arrive before an intruder robs, rapes or kills you? If you are unable to protect your person or property from a stronger or better-armed opponent or group of opponents, are you really free?
